Andrew Currie is an Australian architect who has spent most of his life in Asia, gaining extensive knowledge of the region. Growing up in Singapore and working in Hong Kong, Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Shanghai, and Tokyo, he is well-versed in the Asian market. In 2003, Andrew decided to settle in Vietnam, where he co-founded OUT-2 Design Group, a Vietnam-based international architecture and interior design firm with a mission: “to radically improve the ways people work, learn and live by shaping how physical space influences human behavior, performance, and wellbeing.”
Andrew’s expertise in architecture, interior design, and workplace strategy is demonstrated through more than 40 international design awards for projects ranging from the Sanctuary Residential Resort Community in Ho Tram to Unilever’s Homebase Headquarters building in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as multiple education projects for leading institutions including AIS, EIS, ISHCMC, SSIS, and RMIT. These and numerous other projects demonstrate a strong emphasis on ethical design as well as social and environmental responsibility. Many of OUT-2 Design’s projects have pioneered international standards of environmental design and certification through GREENSTAR, LEED, and LOTUS.
Aside from his work with OUT-2 Design Group, Andrew is also a skilled entrepreneur and design industry leader. A former National President of the Australian Chamber of Commerce Vietnam, Andrew is a founding member and advisor to the Vietnam Green Building Council, an industry advisor to RMIT International University, and an active member and advocate of the United Nations Global Compact.
Currently completing his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from RMIT University, Andrew’s research focuses on how better understanding Creative Intelligence and Design Processes can deliver better results for design practices and their staff—ultimately delivering more value to the communities they serve.
