Mario Mendis

With a 26-year international career as an International Hotelier, Mario Mendis began humbly as a kitchen steward in Brisbane, Australia, in 1999. Since then, he has contributed to the success of iconic luxury city and resort hotels across Australia, Sri Lanka, Dubai, Bermuda, Thailand, and Vietnam.

At Sofitel Saigon Plaza, he rose from Executive Assistant Manager to General Manager over six years, leading the hotel’s post-COVID reinvention with bold lifestyle concepts that redefined its identity. He is now General Manager of Fusion Resort & Villas Danang, a new flagship property by Lodgis Hospitality Holdings. Set between Da Nang and Hoi An, the resort reimagines wellness with a 3,000 sqm spa complex, 26 treatment rooms, and a 260 sqm indoor heated pool with waterfalls and jacuzzi beds.

A former Chairman of EuroCham Vietnam’s Tourism & Hospitality Sector Committee, Mario has advocated for vital industry issues, including visa reform and sustainable travel. A signatory of the Women’s Pledge for Gender Diversity, he champions inclusion and mentorship, sharing insights with RMIT Vietnam students and serving as a judge on Top Chef Vietnam.
